A doctor’s surgery has been in operation in the town since the 1890s, although a resident doctor was not available until the 1920s. Prior to this a physician, surgeon and public vaccinator called James Logan ran a part-time practice in Burton Latimer from 1860 to 1906. He would routinely visit the town to treat accident victims. A Dr Herbert Burland, based in Finedon and Meeting Lane, also operated a practice in Burton Latimer from 1898 to 1917.
