As an artist, he creates large paintings he calls “fourteen layers of stain: atmospheric landscapes.”
His mediums include oil and acrylic on canvas, photography, steel, cementuous materials, pastels, and watercolor. Artists considered an influence on his work are Helen Frankenthaler, Paul Gauguin, Wolf Kahn, Joan Mitchell, Mark Rothko, and Antoni Tapies.
His work has been purchased by many individuals as well as corporations including Herman Miller, Inc. Zeeland, Michigan and Trendway, Holland, Michigan. His work has been shown numerous times at the Muskegon Museum of Art, Muskegon, Michigan, the Holland Area Arts Council, Holland, Michigan, and The Arts Alliance Center at Clear Lake, Houston, Texas.
